Ameritrade Canada, say hello to your TDWH account!

No amount of dis-pleasure or protest will stop the goliath from rumbling over the average joes and there’s no David in sight to free us from its shackles. But if you are an Ameritrade Canada account holder with old habits, chances are you will be surprised for a second. You probably forgot that today is your first trading day where you have to start using TD Waterhouse’s platform instead.

I’m anxious to hear from users what their experience logging into their new account was like. Especially users who have never had the TD Waterhouse experience! Are you not used to having those wonderful Ameritrade tools. Are you happy about that $9.99 trade commission? (though it’s temporary). Maybe somebody will start a tdsucks.com or tdwaterhousesucks.com webpage like this person did for CIBC!

    Yep it sucks big time.

Feels like I am back in 2000 with no streaming quotes and DJ news. Basically you have to refresh quotes manually and it takes about 20 secs. You can use programs like quotetracker but the problem is you cant be logged in quotetracker and webbroker at the same time so you are stuck with the same problems of trying to trade with refreshing quotes and entering an order at the same time. Totally useless unless you trade on a part time basis and dont care about watching a stock move higher after you place an order.

For the trading costs I agree 14.95 with those tools and at least 30 trades/qtr is a robbery vs 10.99. Now I dont know how they expect the avg trader to make 30-150 trades a qtr with this setup. You need at least streaming quotes to get that volume especially in this market.

So imo they will lose regular ameritrade traders unless they include their active Trader platform which is at $99 a mth.

Maybe ex ameritrade clients should call and ask.
