I haven't followed this story much, but clearly Ontario Teacher's Pension thinks they can take over the reins and make it more valuable than what they will pay for it. Or they see it's share price and/or the price they are willing to pay as being under-valued somehow. I just compare it to a small business and I think the situation is analagous. If I run a blog and the market thinks my blog is worth $1,000 (the way I am running it now), then that is what it is worth. If you think I'm doing some things wrong and I am not listening to you (you're an investor in my blog) you might decide to buy my blog for $2,000 so you can right the wrongs. Maybe I like the deal so I'll sell it to you. Maybe you think with your changes you can increase the value to $3,,000 and sell it to someone else, or you rake in a hefty ROI on monthly ad dollars.
