Am I being too harsh on a beta product? I don’t think so. Especially if Google wants to slap its name on a financial quoting system, it had better be at least as accurate as many of the existing stock quoting systems out there. That’s the bare minimum expectations. Google even has the gulls to seek an SEC review of stock quote fees.
Google Finance has finally and quietly integrated pre-2001 data into their stock charts. However, as my screen shots show, Google is still suffering from data inaccuracies. I revisited …

Remember that comedy routine from Jeff Foxworthy? The one that starts with “you know you’re a redneck if ….”? I’m not that creative to create an entire list, but we can certainly start one about so-called financial gurus and keep adding to it, right? Let’s jump right into it!
You know you’re a guru if … you have your own learning annex seminar. The learning annex boasts speaker line-ups such as Donald Trump, Rich Dad Robert Kiyosaki, Suze Orman, and yes Jim Cramer of CNBC’s Mad Money fame. In this video …

I previously wrote about a data problem I noticed with Google Finance’s display of a stock’s timeframe. Turns out it was a designed feature! I’ve since leveraged Google Finance as a starting point to look at my watch list. However, I remain skeptical of Google’s ability to integrate data.
Today, I was looking at a Google Finance stock quote. Even though I have previously blogged negatively about Tim Horton’s IPO, there is no question in my mind that Tim Horton’s is still the strongest franchise name that Canada can offer. …

One of my favourite movies of all time is “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly“. It’s no coincidence that I wished for Investorial to share the same focus. After all, the Sergio Leone classic is considered the greatest Western ever. If Investorial could accomplish even 1% of that legacy, it’d be an truly fulfilling accomplishment! I wanted to celebrate our 1 year anniversary by dissecting investing from the movie’s perspective. Won’t you join me?

These days, water-cooler discussions at work may sound something like “I’m thinking of buying/selling my home. Is the real-estate bubble going to pop? Is there even a bubble?” Hmmm.. let’s just say that some regions are experiencing a state of instability in their real-estate market for the recent time period. How’s that for being politically correct?
No matter whether you think there is a real-estate bubble or not, you will find someone forcing you their opinion about the topic in the media — on the evening news, in your newspaper, on …

Investorial is my un-imaginative amalgamation of “investments” and “editorials”. You may or may not enjoy my ramblings about “the good, the bad, the ugly” in the investement / financial media. I have also been trying to carve out new dimensions in my financial writing. I’m currently a blogger with two financial blogging networks - InvestorGeeks and AOL Blogging Stocks. I thought I’d share with you a few of my posts elsewhere. I won’t claim they are “good”, but I don’t think they are “bad” and hopefully they’re not “ugly”!

When searching for reasons to invest your money in stocks, the 2 basic methods you have at your disposal are to dig for the good news or scour for the bad news. A lot of good news with little bad news may raise your level of interest. Similarly, a lot of bad news with little good news may lower your enthusiasm. When there’s a mix of good news and bad news, it often feels too much like a coin flip. But let’s get back to the company stock that has …

I must thank Stephen Colbert (whose show I watch nightly) for coining the term “truthiness”. Wikipedia (besides having entries about elephants) also has an extensive section on the origin of “truthiness”. The expression is a reference to the quality by which a person claims to know something intuitively, instinctively, or “from the gut” without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or actual facts. The most famous proponent of this trait is the American president George W. Bush. Though Ann Coulter is closing in from second place in my opinion. (Don’t …
